Recycle with Against Breast Cancer | The BRAologist

We know the balance between sustainability and self-care is delicate. You want to reduce waste and be eco-friendly, but realistically, your bra will only maintain good support for 6-12 months, but we’ve all been known to delay buying a new bra while you have a drawer full of (incorrectly fitting) ones. This isn't fast fashion; investing in new, well-fitting bras when your current ones no longer support you is crucial for your comfort, posture, and overall health.

If this sounds like you, and that drawer of bras that no longer fit, are worn out, or you simply don't wear anymore, instead of throwing them away, consider giving them a new purpose. You can help recover valuable materials that might otherwise be wasted and raise funds for breast cancer research.

Why Recycle Your Bras?

Textile waste is a significant environmental issue. Bras, in particular, are intricate pieces of clothing made from various materials, many of which are recyclable.

By recycling your unwanted bras, you're keeping them out of landfills and contributing to a more sustainable future. The Against Breast Cancer program gives your gently used bras a new lease on life.

Where do the bras go?

The bras you donate are either repurposed in developing nations, providing low-cost clothing, or dismantled and recycled. Many bras contain valuable materials like nylon, elastane (spandex), and even metal components like steel underwires and adjusters. These materials can be reclaimed and used to create new items, reducing the demand for raw resources.

Against Breast Cancer receives a monetary donation for each kilogram of bras collected, directly supporting innovative research efforts to fight breast cancer.

How Can You Help?

Simply bring your unwanted bras to The BRAologist. We accept all types of bras, in any condition – even those with broken straps or underwires! We'll collect them and ensure they're sent to Against Breast Cancer for recycling.

What Kind of Bras Can You Donate?

We accept all shapes and sizes and types of bras, including:

  • Everyday bras - plunge bras, balcony bras, t-shirt bras etc
  • Sports bras
  • Post-surgery bras
  • Lingerie
  • Even old and damaged bras!

Where Can You Drop Off Your Bras?

You can drop off your bras at The BRAologist fitting room, Hastings . Please message us through our contact form or DM us on Instagram to confirm the time and details.
